Arts 2017: Reflections on Canada, Surrey Art Gallery

Group Exhibition: Arts 2017 Reflections on Canada
Presented by the Arts Council of Surrey at the Surrey Art Gallery, Surrey
Show runs June 23 - August 16, 2017

OPENING RECEPTION Friday, June 23, 7-9 pm

"The Arts Council of Surrey presents the 33nd juried exhibition showcasing a wide variety of artworks by established and emerging visual artists from across the Lower Mainland. In conjunction with Canada's 150th anniversary, Arts 2017: Reflections on Canada features over forty artworks that consider the ideas, realities, and myths associated with Canada. This year’s annual juried exhibition invited local artists to share their thoughts and interpretations on our country. While the call to artists encouraged artists to reflect on such themes as the environment, diversity, inclusion, youth, and reconciliation, most of the submissions chose to engage with landscape and the environment. Visitors to the exhibition will see a variety of responses to these themes, both in content and form."

Tickets are $10. Register here(SOLD OUT)

Pecha Kucha, which translates to chit-chat or chatter in Japanese, was conceived in 2003 by Tokyo architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham as a way to encourage students to deliver Power Point presentations in a more structured and concise manner. The Pecha Kucha format limits speakers to 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. The slides advance automatically so total speaking time is always 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
