Pecha Kucha, which translates to chit-chat or chatter in Japanese, was conceived in 2003 by Tokyo architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham as a way to encourage students to deliver Power Point presentations in a more structured and concise manner. The Pecha Kucha format limits speakers to 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. The slides advance automatically so total speaking time is always 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
