Charley Harper, the American modernist wildlife artist, inspired this Street Banner Design.

The initial concept incorporates the official birds and flowers of Canada's thirteen provinces and territories. The birds represent migration and immigration while the flowers represent roots and heartiness. Together, the birds and flowers represent diversity and multiculturalism.

The revised design shows a single bird, the Steller's Blue Jay, which is the official bird of British Columbia. The Steller's Blue Jay is surrounded by the thirteen official flowers of each province and territory.
